Hotel Cassana

The restaurant was a bright spot: the food was quite good, and the service was helpful and nice. The hotel is also close to the main cable car. But the room was well below three-star standards, and we couldn’t get a refund if we left, which the hotel attributed to Italian law, or so they said. The old rooms were dusty and had no ventilation. Since the hotel is above two busy roads, traffic noise carried through the night, and we couldn’t close the windows because there was no ventilation. Hotels in the center that are inside the ZTL area don’t have this problem. Reception said changing rooms wasn’t possible because the hotel was fully booked, despite new guests coming and going. We asked for thinner quilts because the ones provided were extremely hot, but they had no alternatives. Wi-Fi was unusable in the afternoon. In short, the rooms were noisy, stuffy, and dusty, and we couldn’t get a good rest. Reception ignored our requests and offered no solutions.

We left feeling a bit uncomfortable and disappointed, with little sense of being on holiday. We’d booked a skiing break, but nobody explained how the hotel worked, where things were, or when we could use them. The drink charges were hard to check because the invoices weren’t signed off and the handwriting was poor. We nearly paid for drinks ordered by other guests. That didn’t feel very professional.

I’ve been coming to Livigno every year since 2007, and I’ve eaten here for the last two years. The staff are friendly, and the tiramisu is extraordinary 😋. I’ve tried almost all the restaurants here, and none compares. The food is the best, especially the pasta, which was the best I’ve had in Italy. It’s also the best value place to eat in Livigno. I highly recommend it.

The setting is cozy and cool, and the prices seem fair. Service was excellent, too. The food was okay: I’d give the gorgonzola pasta 6/10 and the tiramisu 5/10.
