Villa Giuliana Relais

The views were awesome from the hilltop above the town and valley, and the short drive to this slightly out-of-the-way location was well worth it. There was plenty of free parking off the street. Breakfast was filling, with several choices, and the staff spoke English and were very accommodating. My room was very clean and comfortable, just what you'd expect from a very nice hotel. It was very peaceful throughout our 7-day stay, and even with the hotel fully booked, it felt like we were the only guests. The building sits on a hillside with amazing views, and the staff were lovely, helpful, and ready to share advice. The hotel is in a beautiful spot in a small town on Sicily's south coast, with around 12 rooms. Our room had a cozy, intentional old-fashioned feel, in keeping with the exterior, rather than a modern look. It had a nice furnished balcony and everything we needed, including a wide comfortable bed, bedside tables, individual lights, lots of closet space, and a big wooden desk with coffee and tea. There was a fairly large TV with international channels and radio stations. The bathroom was well equipped, and there was a minibar with reasonable prices and a safe. Outside, free gravel parking included EV chargers. The small pool and sunbeds on the terrace had amazing views, though access to the pool could sometimes be limited by events held right next to it. Breakfast was tasty, with enough choice, and the staff promptly replenished the fresh food. I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

I came to Licata because it's the beautiful little city where my maternal grandfather grew up, and I was lucky to stay at Villa Giuliana. The view is outstanding, over the pool and out to the Strait of Sicily, with no airplane noise. There's a castle in view from the villa that we didn't really appreciate until we saw it at night, when it looked like gold. I'll add some pictures here. With only 12 rooms, the villa has a small team, but that doesn't mean anything is missing. The reception ladies take turns, so you get to know them. When they learned I was Sicilian, they were even warmer, if possible. Ciara, I hope I've spelled it right, said she'd speak to me in Sicilian to help me learn more. That was wonderful. The rooms are small and clean. You might think at first they're too small, but that was the only time it crossed my mind. The restaurant was way above par. Breakfast was a typical European buffet with fruit, pastries, meats and cheeses, cereal, eggs, and potatoes. Ice isn't a big thing there, but I asked for ghiaccio for my fresh juice the first morning, and the young lady brought out a glass of ice the next morning. She remembered, and I had ice each day. Dinner was an experience, with a different little gift from the chef every night, each one a culinary thrill. There was pulpo salad and tiny arancini. The Quadratini, pasta like ravioli filled with eggplant, came with strips of fried eggplant and fresh Pomodoro sauce. The filetto, beef tenderloin, could be cut with a fork. The pork cooked in red wine was incredible. I could eat it every day, with bread to dip in the juices. This isn't a place to go if you usually bury yourself in electronics. Come breathe and enjoy the peace. I want to be back in Licata in 2025, and I'll book Villa Giuliana. Licata is beautiful and quiet. I yearn for it!

A very nice boutique hotel, with excellent service and a restaurant we recommend. The rooms aren't recent, but they're classic and very clean.
