Hotel Platz

We loved waking up to the views from our room and seeing them again from the dining room each evening. It made the whole five days in the Dolomites especially memorable, and we'll be back soon. My wife, our one-year-old daughter, and I have just got home, already missing our stay at Hotel Platz. The place is a little hidden gem in a small town, away from the bustle but still close to the main hot spots. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, everything was clean, and the food was so good that we ate there every night. Thanks for such a wonderful time!

The scenery is lovely, with mountain walks nearby and a beautiful Rose Garden just around the corner. We stayed for three days in September. The hotel is fairly basic, but it has a pleasant terrace with a good view, and the receptionist was lovely. Breakfast service, though, was badly organized. Guests are meant to order eggs from a menu, but there wasn't anyone around to take the order. When we eventually found a staff member, nothing came of it, and a few minutes later the same waitress asked us again, apparently having forgotten. On two mornings the coffee machine had stopped because it needed emptying. No one dealt with it, so both times we had to ask at reception for help. If you want a clean hotel with a nice view and don't mind poor service, this could still suit you.

A lovely bonus for us as devout Roman Catholics was the 13th century Romanesque church right beside the hotel. We visited each day to pray, and found it peaceful and uncrowded. The setting is beautiful, and because of the higher altitude, the area can have snow when lower places don't. We've been coming to Val Gardena for years and always try to stay here. It's calm and serene, transport to town and the ski lifts is easy, and the food is great. Leopold, Claudia, Barbara, and the rest of the team give such attentive, five-star service that you feel like family. It really feels like home, beyond just a vacation. Highly recommend it for a Dolomites visit, and we can't wait to return next year.

I liked it enough to stay for three nights. Great value, with comfortable beds, good rooms, decent WiFi, and a fantastic breakfast.
