The owners are warm and welcoming, and leave a little welcome pack with their own tomatoes, honey, cherry jam and more. They’re friendly but still give you plenty of space. I’ve stayed here a number of times over the years in a self-contained flat. It’s not flashy accommodation, just a homely, local kind of stay. The place is a little off the beaten track, with a garden and sun canopy where I was happy to sit and read, plus occasional trips to the local supermarket, which was a treat compared with UK supermarkets. There are walks nearby, things to do, major attractions within reach, and trains to the big cities from Aulla. Highly recommended if you want a friendly, homely experience.

The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom is right next door, so calling it an “external bathroom” feels like a bit much. The owners are charming and greeted us kindly, along with their lovely dog Pongo. It’s a very nice stop when travelling south from the north toward Cinque Terre. The internet connection isn’t perfect, but that comes with the picturesque rural setting.

We had a fresh, really tasty three-course dinner, with every dish hitting the mark. The setting felt relaxed and authentic, and it’s a lovely family-run place with reasonable prices.

The house has a lovely view of the Apuan Alps and was very clean. We were walking the Via Francigena without a car, and the owners kindly picked us up from central Aulla and drove us back the next day. Breakfast in the garden with their sweet dog Pongo was a lovely touch. The lady also checked my ankle with real kindness. Great value and highly recommended. Thanks for everything, Giulia and Silvana.
