Park Hotel Villa Ariston

The grounds are pleasant and uncrowded, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location was fine, though not great. The service was the problem. For first-time visitors, concierge help is a big part of a hotel stay, but here we were left to figure things out ourselves. We got no restaurant suggestions, and the beach club reservations were either missing or wrong. If you already know the area, the hotel may be fine. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

We loved the pool, the attentive staff, and all the details throughout this historic villa. The garden was a perfect Italian setting, and the rooms had a wonderful old-world feel. It was a lovely stay in a palace for dolce far niente, with good service, a beautiful atmosphere, and an interesting sense of history. Two evenings of prosecco and live music in the garden were a nice surprise. Hope to return!

The park and pool are lovely, and the hotel has a lot of charm. The beach is only 20 seconds away, and there's a useful gym area and tennis court. Service could be more efficient, the staff don't speak English very well, and breakfast was average. It was good overall, but a few improvements could make it great.

The pool wasn't deep enough, and the evening restaurant opened too late for families with babies. It was also very expensive, with pasta costing at least 20 Euros. Breakfast got repetitive, and even basic à la carte items such as a fried egg cost extra. The coffee wasn't anything special. We expected more for the price. The property is lovely and enclosed, the rooms are elegant, the staff friendly, and the cleaning very good, but the hotel, food, and services all felt overpriced. It's not on the beach. In June, an umbrella cost at least 36 Euros per day, or 40 Euros in July, and you weren't allowed to sit on the beach with your own umbrella or just a towel without paying. They didn't make extra charges clear. We were charged 20 Euros for two empty plates and two knives. There's no laundry service as stated, only dry cleaning at around 10 Euros per item. The price list wasn't in the room, and we had to ask twice to get it. The internet was frustrating too. Each time you re-entered the hotel, you had to log in again, and you needed your own internet access to log in to the hotel's network.
