Villa Laura

We loved it so much, and I’d absolutely recommend Villa Laura. I stayed there this past weekend with nine of my girlfriends for my Hen Do, and it made the whole occasion. I’ve already told my future husband we have to return for our first anniversary, and I’d love to come back with him. I’m so glad I found Villa Laura, it’s now part of memories I’ll keep forever. The hosts were welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived, offering tea and coffee, tasty cakes and tarts, plus juice and bottled water to help ourselves to. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with enough space for all 10 of us to get ready. The house felt like we had it to ourselves, even though the hosts lived downstairs, so we could relax and enjoy it. Breakfast was incredible: homemade croissants fresh from the oven, lots of cut fruit, cakes and pastries, ham, cheeses, and perfectly scrambled eggs. Everything was served in beautiful cups, teapots, and dishes. It felt like a tearoom. The villa is in a perfect spot in lovely Lierna, a town with lots of amenities. We got off the train and could see it just around the corner. Lake Como itself is stunning. The first-floor main bedroom balcony and the second-floor kitchen and dining room both have gorgeous lake views. The pool area was lovely for relaxing in the late afternoon sun. I didn’t brave a swim, though my friends enjoyed the pool. We also spent the evening in the glass garden room, having drinks and playing games with the doors shut so we could keep the noise down. My friends had decorated it for me in the photos. My only small criticism is that the main dining area and kitchen are on the second floor, so there are some stairs. We mostly stayed downstairs in the garden room and used the Annex fridge for drinks, so it didn’t bother us much.

Villa Laura gave my husband and me a weekend we’ll always remember. We were greeted at the entrance with such warm smiles; the family helped with our luggage, showed us around their beautiful home, and made us feel like family right away. The hosts were thoughtful at every turn. They had mattresses set up by the pool so we could relax in the afternoon sun, while he worked on the garden and pool and she made sure we were comfortable. Our little private house in the garden was cozy and beautifully kept, like having a small retreat of our own. Outside, the garden was huge, full of colorful flowers and clearly cared for with love. The town was charming, with good little restaurants, and we enjoyed walking around the center. From the nearby dock, we took a direct boat to Bellagio, a short and scenic trip. Breakfast was another highlight. They asked the night before when and where we wanted it, and it was ready when we got up. We had freshly baked croissants, homemade Nutella hearts that were the best I’ve ever tasted, lots of fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, eggs, and other local treats. The food was high quality and carefully prepared. It was laid out on beautiful flower-decorated dishes, almost like high tea at a luxury hotel. Their daughter and son came to greet us in the morning too and offered help. We felt so warmly welcomed by the whole family. The villa, the food, the family’s kindness, and the setting all made for a truly special weekend. We left feeling grateful and already hoping to return with our family and friends. We stayed in the Sofia apartment on the top floor and had a great time. The hosts looked after us with real care, and breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented, a lovely way to start each day. The garden and pool are kept in beautiful condition. Highly recommended!

The hosts were so kind and treated us like family. We had an amazing stay at Villa Laura and loved the location, close to Varenna. Breakfast was delicious, with fruit that was 10/10, baked croissants, ham, cheese, and cappuccinos. We’d go back to Lake Como just to stay here again.
