Villa Maria B&B

Marco made our stay wonderful, and we hope to come back soon. The owners are welcoming, the home is beautiful, and breakfast was fantastic, with an amazing view of the lake. There’s parking on the property, and the balcony looks toward distant mountains and the lake. The small lakeside towns are all within driving distance, and the house is very close to the main road. There are restaurants everywhere, and lake activities and tours can be found near the water. A lovely destination for a Lake Como vacation.

Marco and Mira made us feel both like honored guests and friends. We shared long conversations over drinks in the evening and during the sumptuous breakfasts, and they make Villa Maria feel like a real home. The house itself is grand, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the lake and gardens. We stayed in the suite on both visits, surrounded by beautiful antiques, and loved the luxurious bathroom. It’s hard to decide whether the house and views or the hosts’ hospitality stood out more. We only wish we could stay longer and visit more often.

It’s a lovely little B&B in a convenient spot if you want to be near the city without staying in it. The home is beautiful, though a bit dated, and has excellent lake views. The hosts welcomed us warmly, and the grounds are beautiful as you drive up the driveway. We only stayed one night. Varenna is about 15 minutes up the road, with ferries to the other large lake towns. I had to leave very early for a flight from Malpensa airport in Milan, about a 45-minute to 1-hour drive away, and the hosts were accommodating. There’s no AC, which may matter to some people, and the balcony is shared with other guests without a divider, so it doesn’t feel very private.

The family running this nice B&B were very welcoming, and we can’t wait to return for another getaway. Breakfast was cooked to order and served in the garden, and we had our own bathroom. The balcony is shared, so you can meet your neighbors or shut the shutters for privacy.
