We had paid €1,190 for the stay, but my girlfriend got COVID-19 and we couldn't travel on the booked dates. We asked through Booking.com whether we could move the stay or get a voucher for the same hotel. The hotel took two days to answer, just one day before arrival, so I called the owner myself. I used to work as a hotel front-office manager and mentioned there were different ways to handle it. He told me it was his hotel and I couldn't tell him how to do his job. When I explained that my girlfriend had COVID, he said it was her fault for catching the virus and not his problem. I was really angry, though I calmed down later and still tried to get at least the €500 voucher he had offered for next year. That's less than half of what we paid. I then wrote on Booking.com that we wanted to use the voucher. The owner said to call Booking.com and that he could send it if they approved. Booking.com told me that made no sense, since the decision was the owner's. I've had no response since. Stay safe.
