Hotel Astor

The hotel is very clean and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, though you can see the building’s age in a few places. It sits a pleasant walk from Limone’s center, far enough away to be peaceful. Our room had a large balcony and a beautiful view across Lake Garda. The private beach is a great place to swim in the lake. There’s a vertical ladder down from the pier, which may not suit older swimmers, but you can also enter from the sandy beach. The pool is big enough for proper swimming. Families should know that one end is very deep and the sloping bottom can be slippery. The beach bar has a good selection at reasonable prices, and its staff are friendly and efficient. There are equally magnificent views from the restaurant on the hotel’s fourth floor. Breakfast had a wide range of options to suit different tastes. The half-board menu is well planned, with dinner choices presented at breakfast and enough options for starters, mains, and desserts. The wine suggestions went nicely with the food. Most dishes were excellent, though the kitchen could sometimes have been bolder with flavors. The monkfish was interesting to try, but it was bland and lacked texture. Overall, half board is very good value and easy to recommend. It’s an excellent hotel with stunning views, a superb private beach and pool, and a restaurant of a good standard.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Astor. The lake and mountain views are stunning, and there’s a lovely private beach for swimming or relaxing. Limone is an easy 10-15 minute walk away. Our room was very clean, and we enjoyed the breakfast and the food at the rooftop bar. Nothing to fault. Giada at reception was especially kind and helpful with everything we needed.

The room was functional, with plenty of storage, a small safe, and a large balcony facing an amazing view of the snow-capped peaks across the lake and the town off to the right. The bathroom was tiny but did the job, with a sink, toilet, and shower. Towels were changed daily, and there was water in the fridge each day for 2.49 a bottle. We were on the 5th floor. The hotel was quiet despite being full of tourists. It has a stunning location, and the staff welcomed us warmly. There was a mix-up over parking, since you get an assigned space for your stay, but we got our key.

The scenery is breathtaking, with a real mix of plants and trees, from evergreens to cacti, and every room has a lake view. The location is excellent. All the hotel staff try to be friendly and helpful, and special mention goes to the gentleman in charge of the restaurant. He was exceptionally good. The bar also has amazing panoramic views of the lake and Dolomite mountains. Getting here from Verona airport by taxi takes about 1.5 hours and costs around 200 euro, or 300 on a weekend day. Another option is a taxi to Peschiera or another southeastern town served by ferries, then a 3.5 to 4 hour ferry trip to Limone for 20 euros per ticket. Consider how you want to spend your time and money, including whether you want to enjoy the lake views and take photos from the water. Hotels have ferry promo cards, so ask for one if you want discounted fares to other ports and towns like Riva or Balardo. The rooms are comfortable in size and have a fridge, safe, and tiny TV. The pillows are very thin and offered no support, so I asked for 2 or 3 more. The duvets are also thin, which would be fine in hotter months, but not when we visited. I asked reception for extra blankets. I booked a double room, but it was just 2 singles that didn’t quite fit together. I can’t say if all rooms are the same. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms. Breakfast was nice, with a couple of kinds of eggs, bacon or Frankfurt's, not both, plus continental choices, rolls, pastries, and more. Dinner was a bit hit and miss. The risotto was slightly undercooked one evening, and portions were a little small, but a 3-course meal for the price was reasonable. Breakfast and dinner are served and finish early, so get up early if you want to use the half-board option. Food locally is really good, based on my other reviews in the area. I’d suggest breakfast at the hotel if you’re up, then lunch and dinner in town. I’ve mentioned some gripes to help the business improve and future guests prepare, but all in all I’d definitely stay here again. It was pleasant, peaceful, and professional, a relaxing destination. I had an amazing vacation at the Astor and thank all the staff.
