Hotel Oriente

The kind staff really made our stay at Hotel Oriente in Lipari. We accidentally left our Kindle behind, and they kindly went out of their way to bring it to us at the ferry port. We’re so grateful, and we’ll definitely return. Our two nights there were amazing, with a perfect room, delicious breakfast, and a great price. Highly recommended!

The hotel has a fascinating collection of ethnographic objects from the Lipari islands. It feels like a small museum, with so many interesting vintage pieces that it could be worth a guided tour on its own. Our group of 13 were all happy with the accommodation, and the service was excellent. Silvia at reception was great, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommended.

The gardens were a highlight, with plenty of shady corners to sit in, and the whole place is full of antiques and curiosities. It’s family owned, with a wonderful, helpful staff, on a quiet street just a two-minute walk from the town centre. Breakfast is a feast each day. There’s also a shuttle to a lovely pebble beach, €25 for two people’s transport, two lounges, and a table. We only stayed two nights and wished we had much longer. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable, with good air conditioning, lovely towels, and a good shower. It’s not fancy, just truly wonderful, and my favorite place we stayed in Italy. I’d come back for a whole week just to relax.

The garden out back is lovely, with lots of chairs and tables and shaded spots, and you can have breakfast there too. Breakfast runs from 7:30 each day and is fabulous. The bar is available any time on request, and there’s someone at the desk around the clock. The staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. It’s a family-owned hotel with fabulous decor, about a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal. The main street is only about three minutes away, so the location stays quiet. Our room and bathroom were spotless, the air conditioner and shower worked well, and the towels were delightful. If you fancy a beach, the hotel can arrange a pickup and van to the Lido at Coral Beach to the north. It’s a pebble beach. For two people, the round trip with sun chairs and umbrellas cost 25 Euro. We stayed two nights and could happily have spent two weeks there.
