We found this to be great value compared with most hotels in high season, and Paulo was very nice and helpful. Just bear in mind there’s no reception, so call or text Paulo with your arrival time so he can meet you. Parking is usually fine, but the popular restaurant on site fills the car park most nights around 9 to 10 pm, so occasionally you may have to wait for someone to leave. The rooms are clean and spacious, though basic, and there’s no air conditioning. The kitchen and bathroom have what you need. Supermarkets are nearby, as is a McDonald Cafe down the road. You’ll need a car to stay here. Como is a ten-minute drive, but central parking is pricey. Try Lunga Lario Trieste, right at the end, where you can park for 24 hours for €3, then enjoy the lakeside walk into the centre or take the Funiculore from even nearer. For a quieter evening, Pusiano or Alserio offer unspoiled lakes and cheap or free parking. Bar Geletaria in Pusiano is lovely for a drink with a few locals as the sun sets behind the little island. It’s a great base for exploring Como and the Lakes. The exterior isn’t attractive, but from the rear there are beautiful distant views, which you won’t get from the front-facing rooms.
