We were delighted to find a table in this busy place, which turned out to be a lovely surprise. We’d come for one night in town before heading to Sardinia, following the reviews. From the outside, the place didn’t look promising, but inside we found a huge choice of dishes and fast, friendly service. Everything was great.

The food comes in huge variety, maybe even too much choice, and the deal is great: first and second courses, a side, and espresso for just €14. The espresso is included. If you want to try a Livorno specialty, the “Ponce” is a delicious, highly alcoholic espresso, but it costs extra. This is a loud, crowded, fast-paced trattoria. Don’t expect a leisurely meal or time to chat. You eat a lot, then leave so the people waiting can get a table. You may need to get a waiter’s attention and be patient, though they’re usually quick. Come alone and you’ll sit with strangers. I’d book ahead, or try to squeeze in before opening or after 1:30 pm.
