The hotel itself is modern, and our room was clean and well equipped, with a small fridge. The WiFi was very good, and the restaurant serves lovely local food. There’s no bar, though there are a few other restaurants and a large shopping centre nearby. We picked the hotel because it’s near the railway station. It’s about a 15-minute walk, with several busy road crossings, so take care. One thing to check is the city tax. We booked through booking.com, and the confirmation said there’d be no extra taxes. We asked at check-in and thought we were told there wasn’t one, but later the hotel said we owed it. We needed a taxi to catch the ferry, but there was a strike on. The hotel arranged for an employee, Francesco, to drive us, and he was really nice. All in all, a good stay, though the hotel is outside the tourist area.

It’s a bit out of the way if you’re after central Livorno, but it’s excellent for AED and the railway station!

I didn’t end up staying here because I was travelling by truck and needed a large parking space. When I emailed to ask about truck parking, they said they couldn’t accommodate it, but recommended another hotel with a good area for buses and trucks. They replied really quickly. Great customer service! 😃

The room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. Some of them spoke English. The restaurant had a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and great food. Breakfast was filling and nicely presented. Parking was available on the public street or underground, but neither option was secured. There was plenty of light. I’d definitely come back. I was in Livorno for work, and the MAX Hotel suited me well. It’s close to the highway and easy to reach from the port. The place is clean, well maintained and nicely presented. My room was a good size, with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent value. I’d stay again on a future visit to Livorno.
