Roma Hotel

The reception staff, especially the ladies, were friendly and helpful and made our stay pleasant. They left a bottle of red wine in our room, then surprised us with something extra at the end. We really appreciated it, thank you! The hotel was clean, quite spacious, and perfectly located. I’d definitely recommend it as a base for exploring Florence.

Hotel Roma is a dependable choice for a Florence stay. We could walk to most of the main sights, and the rooms were comfortable and remarkably well insulated from street noise, so it was quiet inside. The buffet breakfast had a good range of quality options, and staff were consistently polite and helpful. For me, the combination of comfort, convenient location, and good service makes it a practical base for exploring the city.

Breakfast was decent, but it couldn't make up for the rest of the stay. The room was stifling: the air conditioning only heated, and the fans the hotel supplied barely helped. Opening the windows wasn't really an option either, since the hotel is on a main square and the street was much too loud. I was also very uncomfortable with how the front desk handled my complaint. The staff member raised his voice and, even though I showed my European passport, started shouting about my Israeli identity in front of other guests. It felt personal and unnecessary, and I left feeling targeted. This was a very poor experience, the first time I've ever given a hotel such a low rating. I won't be back, and I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone looking for a welcoming stay in Florence.

The room had a reliable Wi-Fi connection, a minibar, and two armchairs, and the blackout shutters made it completely dark at night. I was there in February and the room was warm. The vintage interior was pleasant, with clean, well-kept furniture. Breakfast included pastries, omelets, ham, and fruit. Getting around was easy: the hotel is right on the square, around a 5-7 minute walk from the train station and airport tram stop, with a supermarket nearby. A couple of things were awkward, though. There was no kettle, and the shower was only a rainfall head with no flexible hose, so there was no way to wash without getting my hair wet. The old hairdryer was weak, too. The windows are high up, which makes it hard for shorter guests to see the square. And that big, heavy keychain can clatter at night if you leave the window open.
