Hotel Alle Acque

The hilltop setting is nice, though the hotel sits right beside a road. Breakfast was varied and decent, and the room was large, but the bathroom was well below standard for the price. The sink was blocked, the shower joints were moldy, there was brown residue on the tiles, and the shower head was old and rusty. When we raised it at checkout, staff said they’d look into it but didn’t apologize or offer a discount. That felt unprofessional and disappointing.

The rooms are beautiful and the location is lovely. Next door, the restaurant has a very good menu at reasonable prices.

The staff were the best part of our stay, genuinely kind and always ready to help. They deserve five stars. The hotel looks beautiful inside and out, but our room didn’t look like the photos. We had room 106, which was long and narrow, with one high window and a door opening onto a gravel-covered section of the hotel roof that seemed to serve no purpose. When it rained, an unpleasant smell came in from outside. The restaurant’s back was right below us, and it stayed open until 11 PM. We could smell pizza and hear staff talking and dishes clattering late into the evening. Parking was also harder to find when we arrived in the evening on the weekend. Breakfast leaned heavily toward sweets, cakes, croissants, and pastries, with few savory choices.

The building echoes because its central staircase is tall, so sound was the one drawback, and I’m not sure there’s much they can do about it. Otherwise, it’s a quiet, charming villa. Staff were very responsive: I asked for a late checkout and got it without any trouble. Breakfast was solid, and there’s a nearby pizzeria with equally lovely staff.
