The bed was awful for us: a very hard mattress and tall, hard pillows. We’d also been promised a crib for our son, but there was only a stroller with a bassinet he’d already outgrown at one year old. A baby can’t be expected to sleep in a stroller all night. The wood-look tiles seem warm in the photos, but felt cold in person, which was unpleasant in the chilly, rainy weather with a baby. It might not have mattered as much in good weather. The cabin itself sits in a lovely secluded spot in the mountains. It looks great from outside, has lots of room, a grill and firewood, and dogs are welcome. You’re unlikely to bother anyone or be bothered up there. The owner showed us how to get to the cabin and checked in several times to see if all was well and the heating worked. Leaving was strange. The hostess seemed interested only in getting us to promote the accommodation. Hours later, she messaged to ask if we’d left our dog’s collar behind. I asked if she could send it, but she didn’t reply, so we let it go. A year later, a very nice Dutchman staying there found the collar, which had apparently been left in the cabin all that time. He went out of his way to get it back to us. The hostess hadn’t even cleared it away or removed it from the cabin.
