There are four steep flights of stairs, so this wouldn't suit older guests. The room was small and not very comfortable. It might work for some young people on a budget holiday, but it wasn't for us.

Being right in the heart of Lucca, next to the basilica, made me feel like I'd lived in Italy my whole life. I loved staying here.

The apartment is great and the location fantastic. Just be ready for 53 steps to climb after you come through the front door.

It's central, but breakfast was disappointing: wrapped biscuits and tea bags, plus an espresso pot with no coffee that I could find. There are plenty of nearby places where you can get an Italian or English breakfast.
