B&B Principe Calaf 4

We booked at the last minute, and the host promptly sent all the details, so getting there and checking in was easy. He was welcoming and really nice. The room and grounds were beautiful, and it had everything we needed, even an iron and board and a hairdryer. Breakfast was included, with amazing homemade pastries, and the place was fantastic value. We arrived very late, so I didn’t get any photos, but it was even better than I expected. I strongly recommend a visit.

You’ll need a car to reach B&B Principe Calaf 3, but it was a peaceful place to stay while traveling in Italy, just what I’m always looking for as an American. My room was large, well appointed, and had a private bathroom. The breakfast was the most expensive breakfast I’ve ever experienced on Airbnb. It felt much more like staying in a hotel, and the BnB provided far more than other places I’ve stayed.

A lovely Scottish woman looked after us so well, and even called a restaurant to find out whether it was open. We had a big, quiet room and a proper breakfast. There’s also a large garden, a small swimming pool, WiFi, and a fridge in the room. A perfect base for travelers, close to both Pisa and Lucca.

We were disappointed that there wasn’t actually a swimming pool, even though one was advertised, so we only stayed one night. The room was spacious and clean, with a good bathroom, and the staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was basic. Update, May 2021: I understand the accommodation has since been fully refurbished, and I’ve been told it’s much better now.
