The care the hosts put into breakfast was what stayed with me most. I eat gluten-free, and the team at Villa Buonvisi made sure the buffet had plenty of choices. It didn’t feel like a one-off favor, just the standard they keep for guests. The house itself is a gorgeous old Italian country home, with tall ceilings, roomy rustic bedrooms, and grounds that make it easy to forget the modern rush for a while. The pool is large, and the Tuscan hills around it look spectacular. Lucca is a short drive away, and there’s a great cake and gelato shop opposite the entrance drive. We had a wonderful visit and I’d gladly recommend it.

Photographing Amanda and Jesper’s wedding at Villa Buonvisi was a lovely experience. With its Tuscan character, elegant feel, and sweeping views, the villa made a beautiful setting for an intimate, romantic celebration.

We had a fantastic stay and would definitely return. We arrived as the first guests of the season, so the whole hotel was ours for the first night. It’s an impressive old mansion, and the owners made a great breakfast each morning. The tennis court was a real highlight, while the billiard table added a lot to the spacious, comfortable communal room, with its sofas, magazines, and lovely views. The pool was a bit chilly, but its setting beside the hotel was scenic. Views all around the property are amazing. You can take a bus into Lucca, though renting a car is more convenient. The owner was also very helpful with restaurant recommendations.

I fell for this place. The two days went by way too quickly, and I’m already sad they’re over. Such a beautiful setting! Thanks to Michela and Pierluigi, who lovingly looks after and cleans the garden each morning. And thanks to the women making that delicious breakfast, plus the rest of the staff. Thank you!
