Da Francesco

The host's constant oversight made the atmosphere really unpleasant. He would come into the room often and warn us not to use the hair dryer before 7 a.m., to switch off lights, and not to spill water on the floor. It felt like he was trying to control guests and saving money wherever possible. Our tiny attic room was reached by four steep steps and had no private bathroom. If you want proper hot coffee in the morning, avoid the breakfast, or better still, the accommodation altogether. A very bad experience.

Francesco was the highlight. We were stuck needing a room for the night, and even though it was late, he welcomed us and made us feel at home. The room was cozy and comfortable, the location was superb, and everything felt perfect. Thanks, Francesco! 🫂

The eggplant parmigiana was good, but skip the meat. The Florentine steak was awful: cooked just right, yet much too fatty, and not the good kind of fat. It's a historic restaurant in Corte Portici serving local dishes.

The pork shoulder was excellent, and the food and waiters were prompt. Prices were great too. It's a spacious place in central Lucca, with air conditioning inside and tables outside.
