I was disappointed by how the water charge was handled. I drank two bottles, thinking they were complimentary as they are in most hotels, then found a 4 euros charge on my bill. Staff pointed to a price list in the minibar, but when I checked, there wasn't one. They still insisted on charging me. The charge felt unjust, and the unfriendly, dishonest attitude made the whole thing feel more like a scam than a service.

We really liked where the hotel is, right by the train station and also close to the city. The breakfast was fantastic too. A super great stay!

We had a lovely stay at the Rex from the 1st to the 5th of September. When a train strike meant we needed a taxi on our last day, reception arranged it for us. The staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful. It’s a family-run place, so it doesn’t have all the corporate trappings of a big hotel chain.

A small, lovely hotel with clean rooms and a gorgeous breakfast. The friendly staff were great, and the location is right by the train station, just outside the Walls of Lucca.

We’ve been coming back for years and plan to keep doing so. It feels like home, with a great location, clean rooms, and a good breakfast. Above all, the staff are super friendly.
