I only ended up staying two of the seven nights I’d booked, though part of that was down to the website showing photos I found misleading or out of date. I’d suggest checking the Tripadvisor reviews before booking. That’s my opinion based on what happened to me. Finding B&B La Farfalla meant relying on the house number, since there was no B&B name by the entrance. Inside, it looked quite different from the booking photos. Upstairs, the breakfast area was really a kitchen with no table or chairs, so you had to eat standing up or take breakfast to your room. There was coffee, milk, jam jars already opened with no opening dates, and packaged croissants without clearly visible ingredient or allergen information. Some items were left outside the fridge. The second bedroom was upstairs too. Opposite it was a bed set up in a very anonymous way, and I think the bathroom was meant to be private for that room. We weren’t given other keys, though, and the room key didn’t lock the bathroom. If you showered, you could close the door but not lock it, so privacy was limited. Payment was due at check-in, and they had no card machine, so it was cash only. I paid 406 euros for seven nights and was given a simplified invoice. As far as I understand the rules, that kind of invoice should only be issued for amounts under €100. It also lacked a VAT number, business name, the owner’s name, and the address where the B&B owner lives. The woman who handles the cleaning gave it to me. I believe she can only issue one if she’s been delegated to do so, and even then it should include those details under Articles 21 and 21 bis of Presidential Decree No. 633 of 26 October 1972. The next morning we skipped breakfast because, after the cold shower the day before, we didn’t feel like it. We went to the seaside and expected the bed to have been made when we got back, since the B&B rules said cleaning was done daily between 11 and 15. It hadn’t been. There was no toilet paper either, even though it was listed in the description. It sounds minor, but it’s a real nuisance when you have no tissues. I never met the owner in person, so I couldn’t tell her about the things I disliked. I spent two nights there on my own and felt mostly left to manage by myself. I say mostly because after I called the owner about the missing toilet paper, it appeared about five minutes after we hung up. Almost like magic. If I believed in ghosts, I’d think the place was haunted.
