Lucca In Villa Elisa & Gentucca

The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom had plenty of space. It was also quiet and peaceful during our winter visit, so we slept really well. The villa sits right by Lucca's walls, and the train station is about a 15-minute walk away. There's a bus just beside the property that goes around the walls or to the station. The host was attentive and kind, and the self check-in instructions were clear. Breakfast was decent and the coffee was good. The high ceilings and tiled floor add character, though the tiles may feel cold in winter. A charming little place and good value for the price.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay for a couple of nights in Lucca. The B&B is right across from the city walls, with restaurants and shops nearby. Elizabeth at reception was especially helpful and friendly: she suggested great restaurants and called to book tables for us. Breakfast was included and nice. The rooms are basic rather than fancy, but clean, with comfortable beds, good air conditioning, and excellent housekeeping. I'd happily recommend it.

The bathroom only had shampoo and soap packets, and there weren't enough. We asked for more for the second night but still didn't receive enough. The side door also seemed likely to hurt your right thumb if you opened it without knowing how it worked. We checked in early, but our room wasn't ready, so we left our bags at reception. When we got back at 9pm, reception was empty, and nobody had warned us this would happen. Since we were travelling from outside Italy, we would have been stuck without a room or our luggage for the night if we hadn't already bought a phone card and been able to call the manager.

The villa is just a stone's throw from the famous Lucca wall, and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and they spoke both Italian and English. Our room and bathroom were clean, with a very comfortable bed and facilities for making coffee and tea. Breakfast was extensive and very good, with fruit, pastries, toast, rolls, cheese, ham, and other options, both Italian and Continental. A lovely B&B in a beautiful villa. Highly recommend!
