Il Borgo sul Lago

The views are like a painting from another time, with Lake Trasimeno spread out below this natural terrace. Il Borgo sul Lago in Monte del Lago felt like a rare find from the moment we arrived. It's a beautiful escape from the noise, surrounded by the quiet, poetic Umbrian landscape. Sunset was something else, with colors lighting up the water in a way that took our breath away. We also ate at Il Borgo Restaurant, where the ingredients and presentation made every dish feel special. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, and made us feel like guests in a friend's home. There's a lovely balance between the historic setting, the high-end food and the warmth of the people running it. More than just a stay, it was a sensory experience in a little corner of paradise. We'll definitely return.

Our apartment was clean and well cared for, and warm enough for our January visit. Breakfast was good, and the host was very friendly. The property sits in a lovely, peaceful place above the lake, near the charming village of Monte del Lago.

There's also a convenient restaurant on site, with a spacious dining area indoors and outside. The menu offers authentic local food as well as pizza, and you can request an excellent, varied breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxing, and Monte del Lago is a charming nearby village you can reach on foot via a path that goes around Lake Trasimeno. It's peaceful in the low season, and in high season the beautiful pool has shaded areas and room to sunbathe. A good fit for couples and families. We'll be back! Cristina and Corrado.
