Hotel Casa Serena

The hotel was freshly refurbished and felt like at least a three-star standard. Our room was cozy and very clean, with a private bathroom cleaned every day whether we wanted it or not. The beds were huge and comfortable for two, and each room had a free safe. There's a lift, a large pool with sunbeds, and free private parking, a real plus in crowded Malcesine. The owners speak English, making communication easy. Our flight was delayed, but after I called reception to let them know, checking in after 8:00 pm was no problem. It's adults-only, so the shared areas were quiet. Breakfast coffee was delicious, and the location made it easy to get to the main promenade, Malcesine center, and the beach. There was no fridge in the room, so we couldn't cool water or wine, and there was no tea or coffee set or even glasses. I take tablets early in the morning and late in the evening, and having glasses would have helped. I understand there's a bar next to reception, but guests have different preferences and budgets. The air conditioning only worked from 3:00 pm to 9:00 am. The hotel is on the main road, and with the window open, the traffic from cars and motorbikes was too noisy. With it closed and the AC off, the room was too hot. Breakfast had plenty of food, but not enough vegetables or fresh fruit. It was a shame that eating your own food or drinks in the shared area wasn't allowed. Even with those issues, I think it's a great place to stay and experience Lake Garda, and I honestly recommend it.

We had a wonderful six days in Malcesine, made even more special by staying at the lovely family-run hotel Casa Serena. The rooms were extremely comfortable, all with lovely lake views, and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. There's a great little pool with comfortable loungers. I'm coeliac, and they catered for all my gluten-free needs. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. When our taxi was late, the owner even gave us a lift to a wedding. Lisa and I can't thank everyone at the hotel enough for making our Lake Garda visit so special. Thank you from Lisa and Dave.

The setting was stunning, and the modernised hotel made for a really happy week. Casa Serena is family-run, with a pool and gym, and the staff were pleasant and helpful whenever we needed them. Breakfast was excellent.

This place is a real gem, and it’s brilliant every time. It’s rated two stars, but deserves four, ballisimo.
