Hotel Signum

Giuseppe made a real effort to make the evening memorable, and the whole team was warm, welcoming, kind, and accommodating. We had a beautiful meal at the Gourmet restaurant, with unusual flavor combinations, lovely ambiance, and fantastic service. Grazie mille! Nina & Gianfranco

When the ferries were unexpectedly canceled because of the weather on our third day, the Signum team let us know before we could end up waiting at the port for nothing. They offered us an extra night at no charge, which touched us deeply. Signum made us feel at home, and I know I’ll come back. The spa and sauna were blissful, and dinner at the Bistro was refined and delicious. Even the homemade condiments had wonderful flavor. The room toiletries, shampoo and shower gel, were top quality. I liked them so much I wanted to take some home, so next time I’ll buy them.

The Michelin-starred restaurant was the high point for us. We had the tasting menu, and every dish was fantastic. The service was flawless, if a little rigid at times. To me, it was at a two-star Michelin level and a must try. Breakfast at 25€ was worth it too, with all the menu dishes included and amazing pancakes. My wife also loved her spa treatments. We stayed four nights, and came away with mixed feelings. The location, atmosphere, charm, and views from sunrise to sunset are stunning. But service for hotel guests needs work. After a full day traveling to the island, we asked to eat at the bistrot on our first night so we could relax at the hotel. We were told it was fully booked. We hadn’t realized we needed to book ahead, and asked whether they could find a solution for us as guests, but nothing was offered. We asked them to look again and returned an hour later to find nothing had been done. A different staff member was more helpful and suggested adding a table, with indoor seating as a fallback. We were able to dine outside in the end, but arriving guests should be treated with more care. The bistrot food itself was disappointing and overpriced, as others have said. With better guest service and improvements to the bistrot, Signum could be perfect.

The setting was very nice and the food was fine, but the tasting menu didn’t match the Michelin-star meals I’ve had elsewhere. At 600€ for two, it wasn’t worth it. Probably the weakest meal of our five nights in Malfi.
