Raeli Hotel Regio

Rome is a beautiful city, full of things to see and wonderful places outdoors. Everything else at the hotel went well. The receptionist was excellent, and the buffet breakfast was the same each day, which was fine since we knew that going in. The bed in room 101 was easily the worst we've ever slept on. It wasn't a real double bed, just two mattress halves that kept separating whenever we moved, leaving a gap in the middle that we would literally collapse into during the night. We're not usually demanding guests, and we've travelled halfway around the world, but this was a big comfort problem. The location is excellent too. It's a 10-minute walk to the metro, and the Colosseum is only two stops away.

A great base, close to the city center and well connected by public transport. The rooms were clean, the staff very polite, and there are lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, and mini markets nearby. Highly recommended!

We noticed it on our second night: a strong mould smell coming from the bathroom, visible in the picture. It was really unpleasant. Everywhere else was clean and nice. The front desk staff were very nice and polite when we arrived, and explained a couple of things about breakfast and tourist destinations.

This could suit you if you're after an affordable place with good transport links. The hotel is handy for the train station and for walking into the city center, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want something more luxurious or upmarket, it may not be your cup of tea. The bed was two twin beds pushed together, and the shower had no screen, curtain, or stand. They might not suit everyone, though we could look past them. The walls were thin, but earplugs sorted that out easily. Fine for a solo traveler, a couple, or a friend; a bigger group or family may struggle for space.
