Albergo Poggio Bertino

The family who run this little B&B are wonderful hosts. We had the best stay of our time in Italy here, and for the amenities and location, I think it should cost twice as much. The area is amazing, with hot springs, golf and wineries nearby, plus a beautiful local town with great dinner options.

We originally had another hotel booked, but realized we’d arrive too late. I called, and Maurizio kindly arranged a last-minute check-in at 10 pm. My family was hungry, so he suggested a great place just a few minutes away and even called ahead to let the restaurant know we were coming. The food and service there were exceptional. The termas are very close and were lovely at 6 am. Breakfast here was spectacular too. Maurizio spent time chatting with us about places to see and wine tasting recommendations. He’s personable and hospitable, a great host. We had an amazing experience, and I’d suggest staying a few days to enjoy the beauty all around.

We arrived at night in bad weather, and the owner kindly waited for us and welcomed us without hesitation. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, with everything we needed and high-quality furnishings. It felt like being at home. Breakfast was fabulous, with homemade dishes and cakes. This sweet, family-run hotel in Toscana is one of the best places we’ve stayed in Italy, and I’d highly recommend it.

The host noticed I was limping because I’d fallen that morning and sprained my ankle. My leg was swollen, and he offered me ice cubes and a cloth, which was so thoughtful. He gave every guest personal attention and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is listed as two stars, but I thought it deserved three, with all the amenities it had. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast was good and included homemade cakes. There’s a nearby farm, and the whole place is quiet and beautiful. A great stay if you’re visiting this area.
