That natural spring pool is a rare treat. I loved soaking in the mineral-rich water and looking out over the countryside, and the setting itself is serene, with rolling Tuscan hills and golden light all around. The rooms and public areas feel dated, though. The décor, furniture, and fittings look tired and badly need a full refurbishment. It seems like the hotel hasn’t had a meaningful update in years, which takes away from the beautiful surroundings. They also sell their own spa products, but none were provided or used in the guest bathrooms. It feels like a missed chance to let guests try and enjoy the products during their stay. With some investment and vision, this could become one of Tuscany’s top wellness destinations. For now, it’s a beautiful place with real promise that hasn’t reached its full potential.

The food was a highlight. Lunch and dinner were excellent, with really high-quality Italian dishes. Everyone seemed friendly, and the place felt best suited to older guests, as most people looked over 50. My partner and I stayed for a few days in August and enjoyed it enough to come back. I think the hot springs would be even better in colder weather. The pools are fed by natural hot springs, and they’re wonderful. It’s much more comfortable to sit in them than in the nearby wild springs, where you’re dealing with rocks. The bed and air conditioning were comfortable too. A few things could be improved. On hot days I missed having even one small cold pool to cool off in, maybe just jacuzzi-sized. The horse flies around the pool were a constant nuisance, though I know that’s not the hotel’s fault and there’s nothing they can do. I imagine they’re less of a problem in winter, when the springs are probably nicest. Breakfast could’ve been a bit better, though Italians aren’t known for breakfast. The shower was small and dated, the WiFi dropped about once a minute, and we were told it was related to the hot springs. A more modern TV with Netflix or similar would’ve been nice in the evenings.

It’s a very quiet, laid-back place. I liked the more secluded pool, away from the public cascading fountain about a mile away. They pump the natural sulfur spring water into their own pool, so you can enjoy it somewhere more private. The rooms are a little dated, and each time we asked for bottled water or drinks, it took quite a while.

We came for the day to use the private thermal pool, and it was a relaxing way to spend it. The property is spectacular, clean, and well cared for. The changing room for day visitors has lockers and a great shower. It’s a well-appointed hotel.

The owners are around all the time and are kind to their guests. This is one of the two Saturnia hotels with its own thermal springs. There are two pleasant outdoor pools, plus a lawn and trees. The rooms are well equipped, and the restaurant is good.
