Mamma Ciccia Holiday Home - Valeria

The room was simple and a little dated in spots, but it was brightened by colorful fabrics, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. We were on the ground floor, and it stayed almost cool enough even though the air conditioning was broken during our stay. Breakfast normally starts at 8, but we had an early departure. Mamma Ciccia was the only hotel on our road trip to offer an alternative without us asking. The night before, they brought a huge tray of breakfast food to our room so we could eat before leaving. Such a thoughtful touch. We also had dinner at their bistro overlooking the lake, partly visible between the buildings. The staff were just as welcoming there. The menu makes great use of local ingredients, and I loved trying fish and vegetables from around the lake that I’d never even heard of. The wine was stunning. They also run cooking classes in English and Italian, which I’d love to try on another visit. Before we arrived, the Mamma Ciccia team kept us well informed, and check-in was warm and friendly. You can park for free a short walk away, or stop outside the hotel for up to 30 minutes to unload after picking up a permit from reception. I like their idea of “scattered hospitality,” with different buildings around the main hub and plans to spread farther into the area. If the other rooms and sites get the same care, they’re well worth seeking out. It’s a three-star hotel with five-star hospitality.
