Spa Hotel Splendid Sole

The staff were friendly, and the facilities and location are good. Still, this is a small hotel with apartment style accommodation, which doesn’t really match how the four star nature and spa hotel is marketed. There is a pool and a small spa and gym, but the setup feels mixed. Keep in mind that places are close together and there can be live music, which may get loud if you want somewhere quiet and relaxing.

We had such a good time during our two nights last week that we changed our road trip plans and came back for one more night at the end of the week. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel welcome and being so accommodating. You were fantastic. I can’t wait to stay again. See you soon 😄

The breakfast was tasty and the pool was nice, but for the nightly price I expected a better room. The bed blanket was so thin, and I barely slept during our two nights because the air conditioning wouldn’t cool the room. We told reception, but it stayed hot the whole time, even though this was in August.

The hotel worked well as a base for getting around Garda lake, and we liked the green surroundings and the little town. The lake and promenade aren’t right nearby, though. It took us about 12-15 minutes to walk there. There are a few restaurants close by, and the hotel has spacious parking, a large green area where children can run around, and paths around the grounds for walks. The territory was clean and well kept. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was new, clean, and quiet. The hotel felt cozy, and it has a pool. Slippers are available if you ask at reception, though I’d rather have had them in the room. Bathrobes cost an extra 5 euros. We had half board and generally liked the food, including two special Easter lunch options. Most dinners were tasty. The pasta we had as a first course each day was delicious and nicely served, and the desserts were quite good too. But two dinners were a disaster. We mentioned it to the waiter, who said the regular chef was off those days. We could tell straight away: the main course was frozen fried fish with frozen potatoes, and it was disgusting. The salad bar in the evenings could use some new options, maybe carrots. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including pastries, omelettes, eggs, sausage, bacon and vegetables. There was even salmon on two days. Maria in the restaurant was professional, kind, attentive, and always smiling. The man with glasses, whose name I’ve forgotten, and another waiter were friendly too. Some of the other staff could be more welcoming and smile more. Housekeeping cleaned our room every day, and it was clean. Thanks to them. Tea and coffee were refilled only once, which wasn’t enough when you expect fresh supplies daily, and the soap and other amenities weren’t topped up either. We’d be happy to return and hope management takes these points into account.
