Albergo Meublè Abatjour

Nice place.

The room was in pitiful shape, with dust on the table and bedside tables and a chest of drawers so worn out that it was impossible to store anything in it. The minibar was dirty and yellow, and the radiator was dusty. The hallway was dark and the service poorly organized. Breakfast wasn't included, and reception was unmanned, even in the morning. A truly movie-like hotel.

The bed was uncomfortable enough that we woke with excruciating back pain. There was no breakfast, and the hotel is far from the center, though public parking was available. The rooms were clean but cold, and the air conditioning wasn't enough to warm them. In my view, the price was high for a place on the outskirts without breakfast. Mantua felt deserted, prices seemed high everywhere, and this hotel didn't stand out either way.

For me as a cycling traveler, it had everything I needed: somewhere to sleep and wash, plus secure overnight bike storage. The hotel welcomes bikes and is well maintained, even though it's only one star. My room was clean and had adjustable air conditioning, a small minibar, and a clean, fully equipped bathroom. It was away from the noisy road, and prices were reasonable. There's not much beyond the room, but nearby you'll find an organic bistro, a restaurant with excellent food, and a well-stocked cafe with breakfast pastries. A great base for cyclists.
