Antico Residence , Mantegna Hotels

The room faced the road, so it was a little noisy, but we'd definitely stay here again if we return to Mantua. We only spent one night, and the people were very kind, helpful, and always smiling. The room was spacious, cozy, and spotless. Breakfast was fabulous, with lots of sweet and savory choices. Recommended.

We picked this place because the photos showed a pool, but it turns out it's a private pool that guests can't use. What a letdown. At least we were only there for one day.

I slept really well in a large, very nice room, and would recommend it. The location is handy, just across from the train station and a few minutes' walk from the historic center. I booked through Booking as “Abbazia bed & breakfast” but couldn't find it when I arrived. It's part of Hotel Mantegna, so you need to go through that hotel's reception. The girl who welcomed me was very kind, walked me to the right door, and explained how everything worked. The key has a password to open the electric gate, which leads to an internal courtyard with a small car park and lots of bicycles, I think including the hotel's own. My room was right behind the gate.

For two nights on my own, I had a wonderful stay. The room was small, but clean and comfortable, and the bed was incredibly comfortable too. I could choose from four pillows. All the receptionists were incredibly kind. The residence is right across from the train station and has a second entrance for guests only on Corso Vittorio Emanuele 2. That strategic spot is ideal for visiting beautiful Mantua. Given the quality for the price, I highly recommend it.
