La Favorita Hotel

A nice hotel, but a few basic things were missing. The room got far too hot because the AC didn’t work. There were no lunch options onsite, and we were told the restaurant was fully booked for dinner, though it didn’t look that way. The room service menu was very limited. They didn’t have an iron or steamer available; I was told one was in another room, but nobody tracked it down.

The hotel has a faint air of past glory. It’s nice enough, but small things like the light switches don’t quite work properly. Breakfast put me off trying the restaurant for dinner. The food wasn’t great, and I can’t understand how they managed to make the scrambled eggs so bad. Still, the hotel is just right for where I’m working, and it’s convenient to travel from, with good road connections. I’ve already booked for my next trip to Italy.

The room was very spacious and seemed well appointed, with decent modern furniture and a TV. The shower’s heavy sliding glass door was hard to move; you had to push or pull near the top rail with your other hand. The heating fan was loud when it came on at night, and room cleaning didn’t replace things we’d used, like tea and toiletries. We ate in the lobby restaurant on the first night. The veal cheek was covered in very salty sauce, which had soaked into the meat, and the pasta was too salty for me as well. I didn’t complain, but I didn’t enjoy it. The hotel has the potential to be very good, and the front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.

There’s not much good to say about the hotel, though the parking area is spacious. The service was bad, the soap dispenser was nearly empty, and they left just one complimentary water bottle on the first night, then charged for more. My room smelled like an old bathroom. I ordered soup through room service, but it was too salty to finish.
