We spent one night at Stella D’oro and found it good value for money. It’s centrally located, with free street parking nearby, and the staff were lovely. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with freshly prepared eggs. There are a few church bells, but we’d happily return if we’re in the area.

The fresh fish was top quality and beautifully cooked. My companions and I hadn’t had cappelonghe and mantis shrimp this delicious in quite a while, truly remarkable. Signora Giuseppina greeted us with an old-fashioned warmth and gentleness. This historic family-run restaurant looks onto Marano's beautiful square, just a few meters from the bell tower. Highly recommended.

We arrived for dinner with my thirsty 6-year-old, but waited more than 40 minutes just to order drinks. We went to the counter twice to complain, while other tables that arrived after us were already being served. Staff said the kitchen was "express" and would take at least 50 minutes, though they still hadn’t even taken our drink order. When we noted that others had been served first, the waitress blamed the table in the back. I understand the age of the lady who seated us, but that doesn’t excuse it, especially since we had to get up twice to try to order. The long wait nearly made us miss the ferry, and my son fell asleep hungry. There was no attention to children at all. It was a truly DISAPPOINTING and SHAMEFUL evening, especially as I’d wanted to introduce an American friend to the local cuisine. I do not recommend this place.
