The vinegar tour was a real highlight, so book it in advance. We spent a little over a week here as a family and found the service thoughtful without anyone hovering. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and chatting with the staff there was a lovely start to the day. You’ll need a car to get around to Modena, Bologna, Parma and other places, though staying put by the pool is an option too. The views are great, and there are nice walks nearby, along the roads. The restaurant served very good food at prices that felt reasonable by US standards. You can hear some of its noise in the rooms, but I didn’t mind the livelier feel in the evenings after the quiet days. Parking could use more priority for hotel guests. It was fine when we were dining at the restaurant, but on nights we returned from elsewhere while it was open, finding a space was tricky. We always managed, even if the spaces were a bit unconventional.

A lovely stretch of countryside, looking out over vineyards and olive groves. It’s a family-run business: one brother takes care of hospitality, while the other makes balsamic vinegar.

The staff were really friendly and helped make it a lovely stay. The views over the mountains are beautiful, and the pool is nice. Our room was modern and thoughtfully designed, though I wish it had been a little bigger. Breakfast was very good, but it only runs until 10 ;) Dinner was nicely presented, but the food could have had a bit more inspiration. We found places in the area with better food for about the same price. Being so close to Modena and Maranello is a plus if you’re into cars and food.

Lunch and dinner are served on site by reservation only, since lots of local Italians come to eat here. The acetaia tour is a must. We stayed in Ulive, a very large, spotless room, and loved the astonishing Tuscan-style view from the pool. It’s a peaceful, beautiful place, about 30 minutes from Modena and 45 from Bologna. We’d strongly recommend staying here.

That dinner was one of the finest meals I’ve ever had, and the rooms were spacious, modern and comfortable. We spent three romantic, food-focused days here, Nov. 6-9, 2023, and had an exceptionally good time. The vineyard colors in fall were stunning, and the balsamic vinegar tour, with its family history and tasting, felt warm and special. Thank you for such a memorable trip, Acetaia Sereni. I’d recommend it again and again!
