I spent a week at Margherita di Savoia. It grew on me after a disappointing start, and it wasn't an unpleasant stay, but the accommodation needs maintenance and improvement. The sea is nearby, though it was often rough and murky, so swimming wasn't much fun. Lido Perla had a special offer and was very comfortable. The room was cramped and awkward to use despite having a kitchen. The table folded into a small square, with two uncomfortable folding chairs, and there was barely room to move. Storage was poor too: the wardrobe was tiny, and I couldn't figure out how the bed or sofa bed opened. Part of the headboard was broken, and there was practically no reception desk. The TV signal was weak and made it hard to use. Cleanliness was also a problem. The microwave was dirty when I arrived and only got cleaned after I complained, though it still smelled bad. The towels were often damp, nothing was cleaned under the bed, and the sheets stayed the same all week. The showerhead was damaged, and basic things like a toothbrush holder were missing.

The location is a real plus: right in the city center, near the sea, shops, and grocery stores. Housekeeping was generally good, and the rooms looked modern and well designed. But our arrival turned into a shocking mess of arrogance and aggression. The owner asked us to send our documents on WhatsApp so we could check in and get the door code, which would lead to our room card. We sent them, then waited outside for ten minutes, half an hour, and finally an hour, with no code. My partner was eight months pregnant, and her parents were with us. We called the owner to ask whether we should go home and get a refund or keep waiting to start the holiday we had properly booked on Booking.com in January. A little over an hour later, the woman arrived, defiant and aggressive. She told us to go to hell, verbatim, and demanded that we leave despite the €790 we had paid for a holiday arranged since January. She seemed to be looking for a reason to provoke us, saying things like, “Go away,” “Your mother is a bad person,” and “Now you're going to play tricks on me and give me a zero review.” So, yes, she'll be very happy. I'm truly sorry, because the next day someone, probably her husband, tried to make peace by offering to buy us breakfast. I'd like to thank her publicly for that kindness. The cleaning ladies were also always kind, polite, and ready to help, even when we just needed a few extra towels. Such a disappointment. Tourist properties need a very different kind of staff.
