The evening entertainment was a hit with our child: great animators, a fun mini club, and a kids’ disco with a fantastic DJ. Hotel Solaria in Marilleva has a warm, family-friendly feel, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. Hotel director Alberto greeted us every day, which made things feel personal. The place is older and shows its age, but it has charm and looks much better in person than in the photos. It was all very clean and well maintained. Dinner was the best part of the food, with lots of tasty, well-prepared choices. Breakfast, though, was quite repetitive, the one real downside. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, especially for families with kids.

The skiing location is hard to beat, with a lift on the roof and ski lockers right beside it. The food was actually good, and the bath was the one redeeming feature of the room. Still, this is a trade-off. The hotel is two stars at most, and the sauna was absurdly expensive at 10eur for 20 minutes. The rooms are terrible: the worst hotel bed I’ve seen in years, and everything somehow feels dirty. There’s no kettle or glasses in the room. They also act as if this is a high-profile place and don’t let you wear slippers to meals. If the beds were at least good, it might be clearer, but they aren’t. Unless you’re a young, rich couple who doesn’t mind all that, it’s not a good choice. I’m disappointed given how much we paid.

The slopes are very close, and if you get tired, you can return to the hotel by gondola.

The rooms and bathrooms are very dated, and the windows were dirty. This definitely doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel, more like two or three. On the plus side, the location is great, the staff are fantastic, the food is amazing, and there’s a good swimming pool. The kids’ entertainment is very good too, with a mini club during the day and a mini disco in the evening. Dinner starts quite late for us, at 7:15 pm. Still, recommended for a cheap stay.

The cleaners did a very good job, cleaning the rooms twice a day, but the rooms themselves were small and the hotel was shaking. The animators were rude, and the evening disco and show were in Italian, which doesn’t work for little kids who need to know Italian. Breakfast was the same every day, and sometimes dinner was bad. They only speak Italian and don’t know how to speak English. I don’t want to come here again.
