Residence Albachiara

The kitchen was filthy, with old, ruined dishes, chipped dirty plates, crumbling furniture, and a hood full of dust. I couldn’t imagine cooking there without feeling sick. The apartment itself was disgusting and felt like a shack. There was no door between the sleeping area and kitchen, which makes no sense with a sofa bed and four guests. The sofa bed in the kitchen was extremely uncomfortable. Our tiny unit also connected to the next apartment through a flimsy door, with paper-thin walls. We could hear every breath from the neighbors. There was no privacy. When we arrived, the amenities advertised on Booking.com turned out to be fantasy. There were no towels, and they even asked us to pay extra for them; no soap and no internet at all. In a building built in 2025, having no internet is ridiculous. For four people staying two nights, they left just one measly roll of toilet paper. Shameful. It was filth and neglect everywhere, with no respect for paying guests, a complete joke compared to the online photos. They don’t show photos of the rooms, so it’s easy to put up the two odd rooms that have been fixed up and hide the other slums. Don’t waste your money or time. The place needs to be completely redone. A catastrophe all around.

The apartment was spotless, had every comfort, and a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. We had a wonderful stay at the Albachiara Residence with our children. It’s easy to reach the center and all amenities on foot, and the lovely Calanca beach is walkable too, with shallow, clear water that’s perfect for little ones. A special thank you to Adriana, who was so kind and friendly and gave us excellent tips and directions for our stay. Highly recommended!

Please choose somewhere else if you don’t want your day ruined. Parking is far from the property, at the sports field. It probably won’t fill up, but if it does, such as during a local festival, you’ll have to take the tram. From there, there’s a long, steep climb and then stairs to a stifling attic room advertised as “panoramic.” It wasn’t what they sold. Booking.com even says there’s disabled parking. When I said that wasn’t true and the parking was far away, the lady said distance wasn’t the issue because a disabled person would struggle to walk even 10 meters. Holy shit. I’d told them when booking that the stay was for my parents, and no one mentioned any of this. They were very keen to get the bank transfer immediately to confirm, along with a €5 towel surcharge for a shabby room costing €120 a night. I remember sending the transfer while eating. My father had trouble walking, so he rightly decided to leave. The snobbish woman called me sounding almost annoyed, as if we were at fault for booking something that wasn’t what it claimed to be. She offered half the amount back. Why? When I asked for the full amount for a service we didn’t use because of them, she made a fuss, despite the considerable inconvenience to us. To avoid being taken for a fool, I decided to beg them for €120, hoping they’d use it to pay someone to update their website and information. Since the bank transfer hadn’t arrived, I assume and hope they took my words to heart. One question, though: who gets the receipt in a situation like this? Mystery. Ah, maybe it’s not possible, as I read in other reviews.

The quadruple room was a great choice for us, spacious enough, comfortable, clean, and with a sea view. Thank you for your hospitality. Ms. Adriana was patient and very helpful with us. I recommend the location as well.
