Ansitz Waldner Oberwirt

We stayed for three days in a clean, pleasant apartment, and it was cleaned daily. The only drawback for us was the lack of a garage where we could lock up and charge our e-bikes overnight.

For a short getaway, the Ansitz had everything we needed. We booked a room on the spur of the moment and felt at home straight away. It was clean, with the familiar, traditional decor of Hotel Oberwirt, and the Waldner family were attentive and incredibly welcoming. We could have breakfast at the hotel for the regular price or choose à la carte dinner there. They also offered a shuttle to collect us from the Ansitz. Thank you!

Room A13 felt dated, the air in the apartment was humid and stuffy, and the heat kept us from sleeping. There’s no air conditioning. The bathroom was adequate, but the TV was broken and only replaced after we asked several times. The apartment is entirely separate from Hotel Oberwirt. Picking up the key there at check-in left us feeling like second-class guests, and when we raised our concerns, Hotel Oberwirt just shrugged them off. The price felt completely out of proportion to what we got. It also seemed to us that these apartments are usually meant for seasonal workers. The location has some upsides and downsides. It’s right by the highway and a long way from the center of Marling. Walking to Merano takes 40 minutes along unpleasant paths. There are a few apple trees around the property, though there are plenty throughout the area. We wouldn’t recommend this accommodation.

We had a nice view, but the apartments or villas felt basic and a bit neglected. It’s gotten warmer this season and there are lots of mosquitoes. I don’t think the place is sanitized. I was invited along on a family vacation.
