Delfino Beach Hotel

The grounds looked neglected, with weeds, potholes, and rubbish everywhere. It feels like the hotel could be heading toward bankruptcy. We were first handed keys by bored staff and pointed toward what seemed like a barn behind the main building. Those rooms were old, battered, and wouldn't even lock properly, so we paid to upgrade to rooms in the main building. They're mediocre, and at 11:30 pm we still couldn't sleep because loud music was coming from the hallway. Some elderly DJ seemed to be playing awful music for no reason. I rarely write reviews, but the breakfast was good and earned an extra star.

The hotel is showing its age, but it has plenty of potential if management keeps up with maintenance. The sign outside gives you an early hint. The lobby and terrace need air conditioning, and an automatic door at the back would help. Breakfast is free and mostly good, with excellent baked goods, though the coffee could be better. Quiche might be a nice addition, and breakfast could run until 10 instead of 9:30.

We tried nearly the whole menu as a group, and the fish was super fresh. The beach restaurant is amazing, with friendly, flexible service and a great wine list featuring top local choices. Even though it's large, management pays close attention to the details and service.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The food was ghastly, the service extremely bad, and the staff not friendly at all. The receptionist in particular was very rude, and there was no respect for customers. I can't understand how it has four stars; I think it should be rated one or two at most. I wouldn't advise anyone to visit. It's a terrible choice for tourists.
