La Fratta Art - House

Luca Leandri is a raku master and teacher, and you can see his sculptures around the property. It’s a lovely place where nature and art come together. Flowers and trees make it easy to unwind, and the owners are very kind.

The place to stay was lovely, Elisabetta was a wonderful host, and Sunday morning came with the world's best Cornetto. I also enjoyed a very inspiring Tai Chi lesson in the garden. The ceramics course was a fantastic week: Luca let us work in his studio and shared a lot of art history along with his skill as a true artist. His intensive, individual instruction helped each of us progress at our own pace, and the results were spectacular. Thanks to Beate and Paola for such a great time with everyone in the course, and especially to Luca. I learned so much and plan to come back in the autumn.

While my wife was in the class, I tried working in our room, but the internet kept dropping every five minutes. We had come for a short artistic, relaxing weekend, something I've enjoyed in other places before. At first the property seemed promising, but we soon noticed poor cleanliness and a lack of attention. The ceramics class was the main disappointment. The curriculum wasn't clear, the materials were distributed poorly, the work areas weren't organized, and students were left waiting a long time for guidance while the "Master" chatted with others. My wife politely said she was uncomfortable, and the "Master" responded in an unacceptable, upsetting way. She left the class and the property after just a few hours. Management didn't offer even a partial refund.

I spent a week at La Fratta and took a four-day Tornio course. The course was a wonderful experience, and it gave me a chance to switch off and focus on nature and creativity. Elisabetta and Luca were both kind and helpful. The house sits in the peaceful Umbrian countryside, with a big garden and a pond where you might spot a toad. There's also a lovely clean pool for cooling off and relaxing. If you're after simplicity and quiet, this is a good fit. Thank you so much.
