Il Casale

This lovely place is right on Villarosa's main avenue, where most of the shops are, and it's five minutes from two shopping centers. The owners are kind and clearly love dogs, which was a big plus for us traveling with one. The staff were wonderful, especially the housekeeping team. There's a restaurant owned by the same people underneath the hotel, serving excellent traditional food and sushi. The international breakfast buffet was delicious and had plenty to choose from, including homemade desserts. A beach spot a few hundred meters away also comes with a lounge chair and umbrella. It felt like a place where you could go on holiday and feel at home.

The owners and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful, and the staff were also well trained and kind. The food was varied and good, and the price was reasonable. The private beach was quite a walk away, though. Our stay in the apartment was good overall, but some of the details could have been handled with more care.

The breakfast was excellent, but that's the only clear positive I can point to. Although the owner was always smiling and helpful, my partner and I had such a bad time at Il Casale Hotel that we left before the date we were meant to. From our perspective, the rooms were cramped, poorly lit, and in questionable sanitary condition. Behind the building, the parking area was in terrible shape, with overflowing bins and unpleasant smells. Restaurant service came close to rude. The waiters sometimes went beyond being friendly and seemed arrogant. The hotel doesn't rent bikes, which would be helpful, if not necessary, given the long walk to the beach. The beach itself was bare, with umbrellas only. There was no bar and, more importantly, no restroom.

The Japanese food, especially the sushi, was excellent, and the waiters and waitresses were very kind. The guesthouse service was a different story. The woman seemed friendly, but the customer service was poor and had to be coaxed out of them. It didn’t seem to matter whether you paid €10 more or less in the off-season. I’d gladly come back for the Japanese food, but I wouldn’t stay there again.
