Villa Le Fonti con piscina

The place is amazing, though the road climbing up the hill is steep and narrow.

The view and location are magnificent, and the pool is huge. But our stay fell far short of what the enticing listing led us to expect from a high-end villa. The bedrooms were unbearably hot in summer, and the only bed I could sleep in had a warped frame shaped like a basin. After several nights with the mattress on the floor, the owner tried to fix it by wedging a board between the frame and mattress. Several things were poorly maintained or unusable. The pool water was cloudy and turned green overnight, perhaps from algae. The bicycles had flat tires and broken brakes, which felt dangerous in the mountainous area. The foosball table was completely rusted, and the fitness trail couldn't be used because it hadn't been maintained. The refrigerators barely worked, while torn mosquito nets let in all sorts of insects. The wardrobes had no shelves or hangers, which made unpacking awkward. In the end, it was a huge disappointment.

The rooms are air-conditioned and the villa is beautiful inside and out. We also loved the superb pool, the breathtaking views, and the privacy.
