Villa Romantica

The area was beautiful, and we had a really nice time. The owners were kind and helpful whenever we needed them.

The apartment was spacious and well cared for, and once the initial surprise wore off, the setting could even feel romantic. Getting there was the hard part. The parking area was neither closed nor guarded, cost €15 without a receipt, and was 800 meters from the villa. Unless you have a small car, you can't reach the villa by car. The walk is through the countryside, with some uphill and downhill stretches, so you have to haul your luggage. If you get hungry afterward, the nearest pizzeria is about 1 km away and offers takeaway but no delivery.

The property is beautiful and well looked after, but getting there is a struggle. The road is narrow and only suitable for small cars. Otherwise, you can leave the car in an unattended outdoor lot for €15 a day, then walk 800 meters. I'd give it two stars for now. With a small vehicle and better arrangements, it could be a five-star place.

The stay was an absolute negative experience. We arrived in Sorrento and called the property we had booked through Booking, but even reaching the person in charge was disorganized. We eventually spoke with the woman through a string of phone numbers. She said she had tried to contact us and warned that the road was very narrow. We had seen that in the reviews, but never imagined our medium-sized car wouldn't fit. It missed by 6 cm, and on that one-way road, if one car gets through, the other has to reverse. They then suggested we drive to the property and leave the car five minutes away on a remote road, though they hadn't even measured that distance. We had small daughters tired from a long trip, bad weather, a car full of luggage, and a ceremony to return to late that night. We couldn't accept this last-minute plan, which required advance payment and offered no minimum reimbursement for the inconvenience or even a little understanding. I found the host completely unserious in how they handled the situation and in how clearly the property was described on their website. I would never have agreed to those terms. If you book Villa Romantica, check carefully first. Unless you're in a Smart car, you may lose money as we did. Providing the road measurements and walking distance in meters on the website would be the honest thing to do. Absurd.
