The staff were far more helpful than those at the other hotels we'd visited in Italy and this area. The pool was enormous and mostly empty, and the beach was fairly close. The room was average, but the rest of the experience was amazing. The price was really good, especially for travelers on a budget. The hotel surprised us.

The staff were kind and helpful, and breakfast was very good. It's a well-maintained hotel on a large property, with a pool and parking on site. One thing puzzled me: guests are asked to hand in their key when going outside. I'd never come across that rule in Italy before, and I don't really understand it.

We had a wonderful week here in June. The pool was divine, clean, large, cool, and peaceful. Breakfast was always great, and the coffee was excellent every time. Our room was clean and well appointed, parking for guests was plentiful and free, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel Cavalieri Del Mare is within walking distance of the beach, with a good restaurant nearby and plenty of other good places to eat within easy reach. Cinque Terre, Porto Venere, and the Cassara marble mines in the nearby Apuan alps are also a short journey away. Thanks to the owners and staff for a great stay. We highly recommend this hotel.

The gardens and pool were lovely, and the service was first-rate. I especially liked the old villa’s Sforza-era feel. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Cavalieri del Mare and would happily come back.

The garden and pool are beautiful, and both the hotel’s service and location were great. It’s just a minute from the beach, and the road that runs along the shore is quite unique. Massa’s train station is about 5 km away, with La Spezia around 30 minutes by train and Pisa about 45 minutes. I’d definitely recommend Hotel cavalieri del Mare.
