Camping Taimi

The staff were amazing, from walking us to our pitch to checking in during the afternoon to see whether we wanted to order bread for the next day. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were great. There's a child free zone at the campsite, plus a great pizzeria and bakery close by. The road nearby gets used like a racetrack. It didn't bother us much, but light sleepers could have trouble. There's not much within walking distance, and the area looks run down. It could be such a lovely town, but it just isn't. For the beach, visit a paid one: it was quiet, clean, and inexpensive, at 20 euros for two sunbeds, one chair, and an umbrella. We had a great stay, and would probably come every year if the campground were somewhere else.

For a camper, caravan, or van, I'd recommend this place for a few days, especially without making a reservation. It's calm, with no animation parties, lots of greenery, clean spacious sanitary facilities, and helpful staff. But I wouldn't recommend it for tents: when it rains, water can flood the tent area and the paths between pitches. The administration really needs to work on the landscaping. There were mosquitoes in the sanitary facilities. I understand there's water there, but they should treat the area so people aren't bothered while showering or brushing their teeth. The laundry dryer didn't work either. I paid 6 euros for a two-hour cycle, but my clothes came out wet. They reimbursed me, but I was still left with wet laundry. We left two days before our reservation ended because of a very severe change in the weather. The campsite wouldn't refund even one day, only offering a voucher for next year. With that kind of response, I won't be back.

The restaurant at the campsite was very good, and the toilet and wash facilities were kept in great condition. Our pitch was fine too. We got a lovely welcome, and everyone at reception was pleasant and really helpful. We'd happily return another year.

The shower water was hot, and the place wasn't extremely dirty, so I'd give it a 2 rather than a 1. Otherwise, this is the worst campsite we've ever stayed at, and I really don't understand the 4.0 rating. There's loud music until midnight, then cars and motorbikes drift on the road beside the campsite. You're not allowed to leave before 8 a.m., so if you plan a 7 a.m. trip to ChinkveTerre, you're stuck waiting by the gate for an hour. The pool requires a swim cap, and fewer than 12 people are allowed in at a time. How is that supposed to work, with someone standing there counting visitors? Check-in was very slow, and you might wait as long as an hour.
