The sea is part of summer for me, but sadly the water was dirty this year.

In five days I never saw anyone clean up. There was plastic and other waste along the sea access, and you can’t swim with your dog. The streets, seafront, and beach were filthy, and very few public bathrooms were looked after; most were completely dirty. I wouldn’t recommend spending a holiday there. Even residents and shopkeepers complain. The mayor is completely incompetent.

Viareggio is the place I’d like to retire to. It’s hard to explain what it’s like to someone who hasn’t been there and experienced it. The best! 💘

The Sails monument makes this seafront square especially beautiful.

A nice spot to catch some sun or have an aperitif. The sea itself is pretty dirty, though, so it's not worth the effort.
