Cecco Di Nara

The bus stops right outside the B&B, with service to Lucca and, from across the road, Viareggio. We found the nightly price quite reasonable, and we'd definitely return to Cecco di Nara on another Italy trip. My wife and I spent 14 days there last September, and it was the most relaxing stretch of our vacation. Alessio, the manager, speaks very good English and was quick to help with whatever guests needed. Our room and bathroom were roomy and spotless, and there was a full kitchen in the room. They kept the coffee maker stocked with pods, croissants, milk and juice. Penny Market, a well stocked supermarket for food and drinks, is about a 5-10 minute walk or a few minutes by car. Handy if, like us, you don't want to eat out every night, since Italian restaurants don't start serving until 7:30 PM. Alessio and his mother, Madalena, went out of their way to help us find good 100% Extra Virgin Italian olive oil and buy train tickets. We also had long talks with Alessio, Madalena and the family about history, culture and Italian food. Before long, it felt like we were part of the family. They used to run a very good restaurant, but closed it for financial reasons and opened a bonbonniere, a lovely bridal gift shop, in its place. We recommend that too.
