We stayed at Villa Sophia a few years back, and it was freezing inside because the heat didn’t work. The pool was cold too, and all the cushions were dirty. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. I’d stay closer to Viareggio for trips to Cinque Terre. We’d give it zero stars if we could.
That view was breathtaking, but the rest of our August 2023 stay at Villa Sophia in Corsanico was a mess for €3300. All four bedrooms had broken air conditioning. Claudia arranged for a technician the next business day; he topped up the refrigerant and cleaned filters that were completely clogged, but the AC only worked briefly. There were so many problems that we didn’t want more tradespeople working in the house during our stay, especially with so little time to fix everything. The parasols, several lights, dining table, lounge area, and sun loungers were broken. Mold on the bathroom surfaces, chairs, and upholstery was disgusting. The house was generally filthy, the kitchen smelled awful, and the pool leaked so badly we had to refill it every day. The lawn hadn’t been mowed and weeds were everywhere. The house needs a complete renovation. After we reported it all, Claudia asked for time to discuss it with her staff and apologized on WhatsApp. She still wasn’t willing to compensate us for the inconvenience. It was an expensive vacation that ended up ruined.
